Academy program 2020
Tickets for the Academy program can now be ordered via the website. Immerse yourself into the visual stories of the exhibitions by photographers and media experts. This year’s Academy program offers guided tours and events at one and a half meters.
The NonFiction Photo Festival is a purposeful attempt to engage in conversation about the contemporary issues raised in the photos. “The Non Fiction Photo Festival 2020 addresses serious social themes, our Academy program is designed to provide depth,” says Andrea Hooymans, our director.
Kees van de Veen and Reyer Boxem, two exhibiting photographers in the Rise Up exhibition, talk about their own work and the photographer’s frame of reference. Photographers Dennis Lapre, Marion Verwey and Joost Nuijten are happy to introduce you to technique and composition in photography based on the World Press Photo Exhibition 2020.
Every year, researchers from the University of Groningen give guided tours based on their own expertise. Dr. Scott Eldridge, for example, talks about the relationship between media and how we see the world.
The theme of ‘protest’ as reflected in the exhibitions will be explored during “A Night at the Exhibition”; an evening with guided tours, writing for human rights and a discussion about photography and protest with BLOG and Amnesty International Nederland. To conclude, we organize the annual Finissage; a small party with guided tours, a light graffiti workshop by Dennis Lapre and a conversation with the curator of Rise Up.
