Vacancy Communication Agent

For the NonFiction Photo (NFP) team, we are looking for a communications agent who will support us in making this year’s World Press Photo exhibition in Groningen a success. We like to offer young talent the opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic position in an inspiring and enthusiastic team, but can tailor to anyone with a good story.

Deadline June 16th 2024. However, if you want to do an internship, you can register all year round.

Activities

As a communications agent you are part of the marketing team. Together with the head of marketing, the publicity agent and the graphic designer you are responsible for making NFP, its people and its activities visible. The content for external communication is generated by the communications agent, with the help of the photography and video teams.

  • Content creation for external communication (using copywriters, photography and video teams)
  • Social media content, ads and maximization reach with a team
  • Website maintenance in a team
  • Content strategy: brainstorming, data analysis and reporting
  • Festival location management
Profile

We are looking for a creative person who can identify with the ideals of NonFiction Photo and who likes to work in a team.

  • Affinity and experience with photography and video for social media
  • You can write enthusiastically from a brand identity
  • You have creative and communicative skills, both orally and in writing.
  • You work systematically, with deadlines and without a 9-5 mentality
  • You are familiar with the cultural landscape in Groningen city and the relevant online platforms
  • Knowledge of marketing, social media and PR strategy
  • Knowledge of WordPress, Excel, Google Drive, Trello and Mailchimp is a plus
  • Experience with paid promotion via social media is a plus
  • Experience with Adobe package is a plus
Internship

It is possible to take up part of this position as an intern. You will work full-time or part-time under the guidance of experienced professionals. See the internship page for more information.

Traineeship

If you are at the start of your career, it is possible to fulfill this position as a trainee. This is a work experience place with personal guidance and a lot of responsibility.

NonFiction Photo Community

NonFiction photo is an ideological organisation with an eye for its people. Here you work both independently and in a team as part of a diverse team in a creative environment. You have plenty of room for self-development, get a look behind the scenes of a large-scale cultural event and can meet (well-known) photographers. The team meets up monthly for consultation and conviviality and ends the period with a party. Thanks to the direct way of communication, there is a lot of room for your own initiative and creativity.

Extra

A number of specific features for this function:

  • As a trainee or professional, the maximum monthly volunteer allowance of €170 per month is available for this position.
  • Option: content creation for the local exhibition in text, images and/or audiovisual
  • Option: marketing research, surveys and data projects
  • Option: an additional personal project content creation in the direction of video, vlog, blog, photography or (live) podcast
Working Period

First half of the year

From February to end of June you are committed to content creation, campaign development and the promotion of projects such as pop-up exhibitions, podcasts, lessons on location and workshops.

Second half of the year

From September to November you will work on content creation for promotion, during the festival in November and early December you will be on location as a location manager, you will work backstage with the marketing team and you will participate in the Academy program to collect content. After the Christmas holidays (last two weeks of December) you will contribute to the project report and take care of the transfer.

Weekly

You work two to three days a week (depending on how fast you work) mainly at our office between 10am and 6pm. The working days and times can be agreed upon in consultation, as long as everything is completed on time. Working (partly) at home is also negotiable.

The tasks can be expanded, depending on your availability and interests. It is possible to shift the timing of the work in consultation.
