Vacancy Event Coordinator

Will you make our festival a party? Come join the hospitalityteam as an event coordinator during the NonFiction Photo Festival and beyond. Organise the Visual Academy program, pop-up expositions, events and the festive festival opening. This vacancy can be adjusted to be filled by a professional, trainee or intern.

Deadline June 16th 2024. However, if you want to do an internship, you can register all year round.

Activities

As an event coordinator, you will work together with the programmer, volunteer coordinator, head of hospitality and festival volunteers to set up and execute events.

  • Coordination festival opening
  • Coordination of company evenings
  • Production Visual Academy from plan and approach to execution, with event evenings, guided tours and lectures
  • Responsible for Visual Academy speakers from promotion to reception
  • Creating and managing scripts
  • Responsible for event-related joint promo partners
  • Manage events budget
  • Overseeing audience research Visual Academy
  • Overseeing ticket sales together with head of hospitality and the financial employee
  • Coordination of volunteers at events (together with the volunteer coordinator)
  • Location management during the festival (a number of shifts), including the Visual Academy events
Profile

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about the objective of NonFiction Photo and is able to implement such ideology during the events. As a coordinator, you are the spider in the web who is able to keep an overview and make ad hoc decisions.

  • You have experience with events and/or production
  • You like to work on a project basis with an eye for detail and the people you work with
  • You are a team player and can easily connect with different people
  • You are flexible and do not have a 9 – 5 mentality
  • You are a go-getter, solution-oriented and pragmatic
  • You have good communication skills, both orally and in writing, in English (and possibly in Dutch)
  • You are familiar with the cultural landscape in Groningen city
  • A local (student) network is an advantage
  • Knowledge of marketing and PR is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Excel, Google Drive and Trello is an advantage
Internship

It is possible to fill this vacancy as an intern, from 5 ECT where you can organise the International Student Night, for example. You will work full-time or part-time under the guidance of experienced professionals. We adjust the internship period, duration and content to fit your course and education level. This is a challenging internship with hard deadlines, especially if you have your run between October and December. See the internship page for more information.

Traineeship

If you are at the beginning of your career, it is possible to fulfill this position as a trainee and you become an event worker. This is a work experience place with personal guidance and a lot of responsibility. You organize most of the mentioned events in a team.

Professional

Do you want to use your experience for the cultural sector, make a career change or do you have time to spare? Join as a professional and share your knowledge with the rest of the team. Expect a lot of personal input and responsibility as an event coordinator.

NonFiction Photo Community

NonFiction photo is an ideological organisation with an eye for its people. Here you work both independently and in a team as part of a diverse team in a creative environment. You have plenty of room for self-development, get a look behind the scenes of a large-scale cultural event and can meet (well-known) photographers. The team meets up monthly for consultation and conviviality and ends the period with a party. Thanks to the direct way of communication, there is a lot of room for your own initiative and creativity.

Extra

A number of specific features for this function:

  • As a trainee or professional, the maximum monthly volunteer allowance of €170 per month is available for this position.
  • Option: organization promo day (with speed date for volunteers in collaboration with publicity officer and/or volunteer coordinator).
  • Option: sponsor acquisition and management for events.
  • Option: initiate and execute your own projects before or during the festival such as video projects, production projects and special promotional projects
Working Period

Second half of the year

You work on the project for about five months from September to January. From September to November you organise traveling exhibitions, pop-up events and construction and promotion days. During the festival in November and early December you coordinate the Visual Academy program and the evaluation day in December. January is mainly for reporting and handover.

Weekly

You work two to three days a week (depending on how fast you work) mainly at our office between 10am and 6pm. The working days and times can be agreed upon in consultation, as long as everything is completed on time. Working (partly) at home is also negotiable.

The tasks can be expanded, depending on your availability and interests. It is possible to shift the timing of the work in consultation.
