Festival volunteers

No festival without volunteers. NonFiction Photo, at its core, is a team of makers who, with the help of dozens of volunteers, manages to organize events. Want to be part of this? Join this upcoming edition as a maker, tour guide or host.

NonFiction Photo Community

NonFiction photo is an ideological organisation with an eye for its people. Here you work both independently and in a team as part of a diverse team in a creative environment. You have plenty of room for self-development, get a look behind the scenes of a large-scale cultural event and can meet (well-known) photographers. The team meets up monthly for consultation and conviviality and ends the period with a party. Thanks to the direct way of communication, there is a lot of room for your own initiative and creativity.

Education Team

As a tour guide you will talk about the World Press Photo Exhibition with all kinds of visitors:

Show the visitors and (school) groups around
Group reception at the education desk
Manning the cloakroom and bar during events
Creating atmosphere in the living room of the festival

For this position it is of great importance that you are fluent in Dutch; but there are one or two spots available for English speakers.

Front Desk Team

Staff our desk with a colleague as the first point of contact for visitors. Tasks:

Welcome and visitors on arrival
Inform them about the building, exhibitions and the Academy program
Sell tickets and catalogue
Manage the festival location

You dont need to speak Dutch for this position

Expert Team

We are looking for people with superpowers all year round. For example:

Public Relations
Photography
Graphic design
Production
Copywriting

... and everything we didn't already know we needed. You do not need to speak Dutch for this position.

Working Period

You help during the festival, possibly during the build up and the deconstruction of the exhibit. There are a few trainings you attend in preparation of this.

There are around three trainings in October in the evenings at our office at the Biotoop in Haren. Besides this there is a general introduction meeting starting in October and a promotion day midway through October in the city with a cosy evening afterwards. In the week after the festival there will be an evaluation moment and a volunteer party.

The festival runs from November till December 2024. You will work at least 6 shifts, which are attendable at your convenience.

Profile

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about the objectives of NonFiction Photo and can work well together. In addition, you have:

A practical attitude.
Customer friendliness.
An affinity to photography and quality.
No 9 – 5 mentality.

If you want to start earlier, send ons an email and help us as an 'expert volunteer'. As an expert, you can help us with almost anything: from copywriter to builder and from marketing to graphic design. Send us a message and we'll figure out how you can participate. It is also possible to fill such a position as an internship, work experience position or reintegration position.
