As a researcher you will support the exhibition team during the new exhibition launched later this year at the NonFiction Photo Festival. This opening is meant to be filled by a volunteer or intern.

Deadline 9 april 2023.

NonFiction Photo is an amazing, open-minded and hospitable community where many people receive a relevant practical experience. Great guidance and a fun and interesting programme ensure that you learn a lot and are able to expand in the dimensions you are interested in the most.” – Saskia, intern 2022

  • Writing content for online media
  • Putting together information packages for tours
  • Writing the basis for press articles
  • Writing exhibition texts
  • Optional: writing for fundraising
  • Optional: documenting the funding and partnerships
Profile

We are looking for someone who is skilled at working in a team and enthusiastic about achieving the aims of the foundation. Further qualities:

Internship

It is possible to fill this vacancy as an intern, from 5 ECT. Under the guidance of experienced professionals you can work part time or full time. We adjust the internship period, duration and content to fit your course and education level. This is a challenging internship with hard deadlines, especially if you have your run between October and December.

Research question

The exhibition this year is highlighting the human rights in the North: gender inequality and empowerment of women. We want to showcase these forms of inequality by using research and photography.

Gender inequality and empowerment of women are global subjects. Think of the disparity in the work fields, healthcare or in private. But also locally we notice the effects of gender inequality, even if they are often easy to miss. For example the menstruation poverty in the Middle-Groningen region, which is a reason why women miss work or schooling more often than men.

"When I told my fellow students about my internship at NonFiction, they reacted jealously. And rightly so! Couldn't have imagined a nicer internship!" – Natan, intern 2020

NonFiction Photo Community

NonFiction photo is an ideological organisation with an eye for its people. Here you work both independently and in a team as part of a diverse team in a creative environment. You have plenty of room for self-development, get a look behind the scenes of a large-scale cultural event and can meet (well-known) photographers. The team meets up monthly for consultation and conviviality and ends the period with a party. Thanks to the direct way of communication, there is a lot of room for your own initiative and creativity.

Further benefits

  • Participation in the training programme for tour guides
  • Participation in workshops such as photography, metal, design and excel
  • Free admission to all events, including the VIP opening and the Academy program with guided tours and lectures
  • A letter of recommendation on behalf of the NonFiction Photo Foundation (in case of mutual satisfaction).
Extra

A number of specific features for this function:

  • It is possible to get EC's for the project
  • You will receive personal guidance
  • Your research will be used as the basis for the upcoming festival exhibition
Working Period

You work on the research to support the curation of the exhibition. This phase of the research ends in the summer break or can continue until the festival in late November/December. By the end of the research you will be able to hand in a rapport/presentation.

The exhibition team will display the results as a whole. This means that you will be working together with professionals, interns and volunteers in one team. You will do this from our office in the Biotoop in Haren. You will receive your own desk here and plenty of guidance.

The assignment can be adjusted according to your available hours. Working times will be fully discussable, within workdays between 10.00 -18.00.
