“No experience, no problem!”

Wondering if it will be interesting for you to volunteer at NonFiction Photo? Or would you just like to find out what it would be like to be part of our team. In both cases you are in luck; today Maurits, our new intern, will share his experience working ar our 'gezellige' studio.

“Working as a volunteer at NonFiction Photo has helped me grow as a person. I wanted to be more involved in Groningen's cultural sector and NonFiction was a no-brainer in that regard. I had no experience in event management, which I applied for, but it didn't matter. They look at where your skills and interests are best applied and guide you in this.”

“I started with production. Doing odd jobs at the office and making contributions to the exhibition. No experience, no problem. Every day I learn something new. I am well-supervised. Dries, talented in everything that is handy and artistic, gives many tools for DIY and art. That and now and then a workshop in such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. It inspired me to apply for the art academy.”

“The atmosphere is very relaxed. Time is taken for socialising between work (lunch is sacred). What I really appreciate is that everyone has their own talents and shares them with one another. Photography, DIY, art, animation, 3D printing and laser cutting all come along. Initiative is appreciated. If you have an idea, you can bring it up and discuss it.”

“Since I came to work here, I can finally do the basics. I started making art that everyone helped me immensely with. I got to know a lot of cool people and laughed a lot. For the future, there are more marketing related things on the horizon. If you ask, you will get the chance. I hope reading this will inspire you. Who knows, maybe we'll meet in real life.
